The carving of Olive Wood into crosses and other religious objects is a tradition which goes back at least sixteen-hundred years. The unique practice began in Bethlehem, during the 4th century when monks showed the local inhabitants how to carve Olive Wood, an art that has persisted in the Holy Land.
