I picked up this Holy Land Rosary in Jericho on the Mount of Temptation!
Remember that silly song you used to sing as a kid about Joshua fighting the battle of Jericho?
Well I got to visit that town a few months ago and I can tell you the wall DID fall down because it’s not there anymore. While I was visiting Jericho, I took the longest cable car below sea level in the world up to visit a Greek Orthodox Monastery on the Mount of Temptation. I bought this Holy Land rosary from one of the monks. I was drawn to this piece because of its unique grayish colored beads. The small mishapen beads are shiny and made out of wood. A small medallion accompanies the beads with an image of our Lady and the Christ child. The metallic Crucifix features a the word Jerusalem on the back.
The Mount of Temptation is where Christ was tempted by Satan!
To Mount of Temptation is located in the Judean desert and is said to be where Christ fasted for forty days while being tempted by the devil. The monastery itself was constructed in the late 19th century and provides panoramic views of Jericho. When I hold this holy land rosary in my hands, I am reminded of the power of Christ in our lives to ward off temptations and to help us live Holy lives according to his Will.
