1950’s Michelangelo Pieta Statue

The real Pieta Statue is at the Vatican in Rome. But you can enjoy this Michelangelo carving in your own home!

One of the first magnificent sites I experienced at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome earlier this year was Michelangelo’s Pieta statue. This Renaissance sculpture is a wonder to behold! It is both a heart wrenching and uplifting masterpiece, the Virgin, who looks very young in this carving, cradling the fully grown Christ on her lap. Her full drapery and bowed head lend itself to the dramatic nature of this great Catholic work of heart. Michelangelo Buonarroti created the Pieta between 1498 and 1499.

Our sculpture of the Pieta is a solid piece of resin sitting on top of a sturdy wood base.

The origins of this vintage treasure is a bit of a mystery to us. We do know that it originates from the 1950’s era which it makes it all the more unique. The statue is in excellent condition. I’m quite sure this will not last long so if you want it, snag it before it’s too late!

Measures 6″ x 6″.
